How To Be A Student
The bashful do not learn,
and the short-tempered cannot teach. (2:6a)
Choose for yourself a mentor;
Acquire for yourself a friend;
And judge every person in a favorable light. (1:6)
They speak of first things first, and last things last.
Of things they have not understood they say,
“I do not understand,” and they acknowledge the truth.
The opposites mark the crude. (5:10)
Seven things mark the crude, and seven the wise.
The wise do not speak before one who is greater in wisdom,
nor interrupt the words of a colleague, nor rush to reply.
Their questions are relevant, their answers to the point. (5:10)
